One thing I want to say about the Oscar noms is that I’m so glad that Demián Bichir of A Better Life received a Best Actor nomination. I’m sure that maybe 2 people who will read this post have even heard of this movie, but it’s a really good one. Demián portrays a single father living in Los Angeles with his teenage son. He’s an illegal immigrant who works as a landscaper who can hardly make ends meet, and his son is tempted by the thrill of gangs and violence. It’s a very realistic — and depressing — story of a father/son relationship and I really think you all should watch it, just to see Demián. It’s on DVD, fyi~
